Andrea Jane: Earrings

Each piece is unique in the jewelry and firing process. The firing process is a saggar fire, which holds its appeal due to its natural and earthy characteristics. A saggar fire is a contained box in a kiln filled with combustibles that mark the sculptures in unique ways with smoke. Each piece has to be made from a white clay and hand burnished in order for the smoke to mark the clay. The final process is a wax polish and a burnish.
