Collection: CYNDE WILSON

I grew up on the ranch my family homesteaded on the Cottonwood Creeks between Pinedale and Big Piney, WY and have never lived outside Sublette County, Wy. I often paint near our cabin in the “Upper Green River” valley on land my husband’s grandparents homesteaded. My Grandmother taught art in her studios in California and Oklahoma. She put a paintbrush in my hand when I was 8 years old. I studied art at the University of Wy and painted some as a young mother, but careers and family took precedence for decades. In 2020 I discovered the Tucson Art Academy Online (TAOO) and have been painting under the tutelage of Matt Smith ever since. My paintings are inspired by my love of ranch life, livestock, wildlife and the beautiful mountains, lakes and streams that my husband and I have explored, hunted and fished for over 54 years together. I hope my interpretations of Wyoming and its way of life are both realistic and impressionistic. My work has been awarded “Best of Show” in the 2024 Wyoming Artists Association convention and the 2023 Lynn Thomas memorial art shows and many blue and purple ribbons in exhibitions the past four years.
