EMILY BOESPFLUG

Originally from Ranchester, Wyoming I soon headed South after receiving my BFA to learn to hang glide in a more exotic and warmer climate. After painting murals and flying for a few years I landed back in my home state, excited for the adventures Jackson Hole would bring. I soon came to value and appreciate the strong knit community of both athletes and artists alike. I initially enjoyed working in fine dining and at the Art Association before taking a leap into life as a full-time fine artist and face painter.

My desire to create stems from the need to engage in a creative process, to reach beyond the natural beauty of a space and interpret moments in time rather than a realistic rendering of a scene. As an artist living among the contrasting worlds of rural spaces and the new west that now defines Jackson Hole, my need to be immersed in the wild and dramatic country continues to grow along with my interest in sharing the feeling of freedom felt amid our open spaces. My appreciation and passion for the outdoors continues to have a profound influence on my creative process painting in the field and studio. Exploring visual language through oil paint and pastel, I combine soft pensive brushwork with bold, saturated color to create the energy of a space that reflects my time spent absorbing all a place has to tell me. Poetic narratives emerge in a naturalist style simply expressing a love and beauty of the natural world without losing the representational aspect of what I am seeing.
