Color, life, action, mystery and simple beauty typify Matt's paintings and sculpture. In the Rocky Mountain West, his attention goes to depicting the majesty and beauty of the mountain landscapes and wildlife. While in coastal areas, dramatic splashing waves, classic seascapes, intriguing island scenes and upcountry splendor attract his interest. 

Primarily a landscape and wildlife artist, he paints on location as well as in the studio.  Matt also branches out into other subject matter, such as intriguing glimpses of daily life of people, animals and the wonders of our gorgeous world. 

As a Wyoming native, Matt Montagne grew up in the mountains of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado, especially in the Jackson Hole valley and Bozeman, MT. Growing up in the Yellowstone area instilled a lifelong love for the out of doors, which became the foundation for creating paintings and sculptures. He had an early business of carving animal figures into elk antler jewelry. He often watched family friends and neighbors Connie Schwiering and Tiny Hagen as they painted the Tetons and area wildlife. 

Matt hopes viewers and buyers of his art are captured by the sense of wonder and beauty that has caught his attention to convey in paintings and sculpture.
