Collection: NICOLE TAFOYA

Nicole Tafoya is a mixed media artist based in Rigby, Idaho, where she works from her home studio. Her art is deeply inspired by the wildlife and natural landscapes surrounding Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Through her layered, textural approach, she brings animals to life in ways that celebrate both the beauty of nature and the storytelling potential of reclaimed materials.

Nicole Tafoya’s work explores the intersection of sculpture and collage through the creation of animal forms. Each piece begins with hand-sculpted clay, capturing the spirit and individuality of each animal. She then layers these forms with collaged surfaces made from painted papers of newspapers, vintage book pages, and other ephemera. These materials, rich with history and texture, allow her to create depth and narrative within the work. By combining the permanence of clay with the fragility of paper, she invites the viewer into a tactile and imaginative world where the natural world meets fragments of the past.
